Trident Solar

Quote the roof before you climb it.

Type in an address. Trident Solar measures the roof from aerial height data, lays out the panels the way a good designer would, sizes the system, prices it from your own costs and prepares the grid-connection paperwork data. It takes a few minutes.

Demand is at a record, and quoting eats your evenings

2026 is already the biggest year ever for UK rooftop solar, with more than 207,000 MCS installs by mid-September and nearly 29,000 in March alone. Then the 0% VAT rate on installed solar ends on 31 March 2027, so every homeowner who's been thinking about it wants a price now.

For a small installer that means:

  • Hours per quote. Measuring, laying out, costing and writing up every enquiry, including the many that never go ahead.
  • Site visits that don't convert. Driving out to look at a roof that was never going to work.
  • Paperwork after the sale. MCS, DNO and export registration add hours to every job.
  • Design tools that stop at the picture. Most produce a nice layout and leave the rest to you.

Where the work is

There were nearly two million solar PV sites across the UK at the end of 2025. Every region added thousands in the year. Most are rooftop systems on homes, and each one started as a quote.

North East: 81,017 solar PV sites at the end of 2025, 11,115 more than a year before North West: 167,657 solar PV sites at the end of 2025, 20,885 more than a year before Yorkshire and the Humber: 145,575 solar PV sites at the end of 2025, 16,797 more than a year before East Midlands: 163,084 solar PV sites at the end of 2025, 21,328 more than a year before West Midlands: 144,662 solar PV sites at the end of 2025, 20,096 more than a year before East of England: 219,521 solar PV sites at the end of 2025, 26,378 more than a year before London: 75,255 solar PV sites at the end of 2025, 7,543 more than a year before South East: 278,170 solar PV sites at the end of 2025, 34,815 more than a year before South West: 250,526 solar PV sites at the end of 2025, 29,780 more than a year before Wales: 130,681 solar PV sites at the end of 2025, 22,475 more than a year before Scotland: 210,630 solar PV sites at the end of 2025, 26,116 more than a year before Northern Ireland: 33,391 solar PV sites at the end of 2025, 2,499 more than a year before

From address to priced design

  1. Address The building found from the address
  2. Roof measured Each face from aerial height data; chimneys, vents and shade kept clear
  3. Panels laid out 400 mm from every edge, sized to the household
  4. Price Holds if any of your kit prices, rates or margin are missing
  5. Quote and grid data Installed price with VAT, G98 or G99, single-line diagram
If a cost is missing, Trident shows no price and tells you which one to fill in.

Try the price

Simplified example. Clear a box and see what happens.

4.3 kWp, 10 panels, one inverter · 14 Example Street

Your kit cost and margin never appear on what the customer sees. Only the installed price does.

Roofs measured from height data

Trident finds the building from the address and measures each roof face from aerial height data. Chimneys, dormers, vents and shaded areas are found and kept clear automatically.

Layouts a designer would draw

Panels sit 400 mm in from every edge in tidy blocks, sized to cover the household's use. We trained and tested the layouts against a working UK installer's own design drawings.

Move anything by hand

Click a roof face to place a panel at its true size. Panels snap into rows; you can drag, rotate and undo. Trident warns you in amber or red when a panel gets too close to an edge or an obstruction.

Prices from your own costs

You set your kit prices, install rates, margin and tariffs once. Trident gives one installed price including VAT, the savings and the assumptions behind them, and a price with a battery alongside. If any of your costs are missing, it shows no price and tells you what to fill in. Your trade prices and margin never appear on anything the customer sees. City Plumbing price sync is built in.

The engineering checks

  • Generation estimate using the MCS method, with a cautious (P90) figure shown beside the expected one
  • Shading for each panel across the year
  • String and inverter checks
  • Wind and snow loading on the roof, with clear notes on what needs confirming at survey
  • A printable design report with plain-English caveats

Grid connection data, ready to send

Trident decides whether the system is G98 (notify) or G99 (apply first), checks the MPAN, finds the network operator from it, lists the forms you need and draws the single-line diagram, all printable to PDF.

Bigger jobs and many homes

Flat commercial roofs get east-west layouts with setbacks and walkways. If a landlord or council sends you a list of homes, upload the spreadsheet and design them as a batch.

Small and growing UK installers

Trident Solar is for MCS-certified installers doing domestic retrofit solar, from two-van firms to teams fitting a few hundred systems a year, who want to quote faster and spend less time on the desk. It also suits retrofit contractors adding solar to funded programmes, where Trident already designs solar on a live programme.

Questions installers ask

  • Is the generation figure MCS? It uses the MCS calculation method, with the European Commission's PVGIS model as a cross-check. It's an estimate, and the report labels it as one.
  • Does it submit to the network operator? Trident prepares the data, the forms list and the single-line diagram. You submit through your network operator.
  • Do I still need a survey? Yes. Roof strength is assumed from the build until a surveyor confirms it, and the report says what needs checking on the day.
  • What sizes does it design? Automatic design covers G98-sized homes. Larger and commercial systems are laid out on the same canvas.

Bring three addresses

Bring three addresses you're quoting this month. On a 30-minute Teams call I'll design them in front of you, from the measured roof to the priced quote.

If you go ahead, I load your kit list and prices, so your first real quote can go out on day one.

Book a demo with your addresses

Or ring me, Steven Hassall, on 07807 025270. I built Trident and I'll be the one on the call. Email works too: hello@trident-os.com.

If it isn't right for how you work, I'll tell you.
